Ayurveda For Heel Pain

Pain in the heel is one of the most common ailments of the foot. The most common form of heel pain is pain at the bottom of the heel. It tends to occur for no apparent reason and is often worse when first placing weight on the foot.
Patients often complain of pain in the morning, or after getting up to stand after sitting for a while. The pain can be a sharp, shooting pain or present as a tearing feeling at the bottom of the heel. As the condition progresses, there may be a throbbing pain or there may be soreness that radiates up the back of the leg. Pain may also radiate into the arch of the foot.
The problem with the female patient can be described in ayurveda as "Vatakantaka" and for which I am giving the successful prescription.I have treated some of the cases for the same problem and all were cured completely.
Suggested Treatment:
1).Navaka guggulu 1 gr 3 times/day with warm water 1 hr after food.
2).Maha vishgarbha tailam warm the oil and apply over the painful parts and gently massage for 15 min later foment the painful parts with fine sand tied in a cloth.
3) Take 30 grams of Arka(Calotropis procera)flowers gently crush them and lightly fry them with 1 spoon of above said oil and tie this fried bolus to the heals with cloth at bed time and remove in the morning.
Continue this treatment till u get the relief. Avoid constipation.

Exercises for Heel Pain : some moves that strengthen the arch of the foot--
  • Stand with legs apart, about shoulder width, and gently move the knee out over the foot, weight will go to the outer edge of the foot.
  • Sit with your feet resting on a towel or a piece of fabric and pull or grab the fabric toward you with your toes as if you are going to pick up the towel with your foot.Repeat this exercise several times a day.
  • Also stretching out that life nerve up the back of the leg.
Diet: Garlic, turmeric and ginger should be included in the diet as they have anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce the inflammation. Important Tip: Before stepping down after sleeping or resting, make movements of toes and ankle in all the way to warm up and relax the foot.
